The product from Dynamic Solar Systems AG has unique competitive strengths: The DSS solar cell is a thin-film cell produced using inorganic chemicals. Thanks to an entirely new printing paste in combination with a proprietary modified printing process the developers of the DSS technology have been able to produce robust and durable, low cost and efficient solar cells.
The printed DSS thin-film solar cells are manufactured using a process that is completely different from conventional photovoltaic production technology. In addition the layers of the DSS solar cells can be applied directly to flat surfaces and as well as indirectly to every object and every construction material by use of a transfer foil.
This potential extends from building facades to sound-retarding walls along railroad tracks and highways and even to laptop lids, mobile telephones and many other consumer articles. By use of this technological advantage, unlimited new markets can be opened up with the DSS applications that previously could not be covered by the classical solar industry technology. The flexible DSS cells can be bent over 90 degrees in every direction and even adapt well on corrugated underlying surfaces.
The cells continue to function at high temperatures with very little loss in efficiency and can move with almost all expansions and contractions of the underlying surface due to heat and cold. The surface is non-reflective which allows the cells to be used in sensitive areas such as railways and highways. Properly positioning the cell in relation to the sun increases the efficiency but large amounts of energy are still produced when the angle of incidence is marginal. Cooling of the cell is not necessary and a stable production of energy is guaranteed up to 120⁰ C.

Dynamic Solar Systems AG opens up new markets. The potential usage for solar cells in combination with every-day products is almost unlimited. Facades, roofs, wind generators, paving stones, stadiums, laptop lids and sails to name just a few.

Did you know that there are over 100 million square meters of sound-retarding and screening walls along train tracks and roadways? This is just one of many areas where Dynamic Solar Systems AG sees a potential of 20 million square meters in the years ahead.

Dynamic Solar Systems AG can put its advantages to good use in this area. Unused, existing surfaces can now be used by applying solar foil directly to the underlying construction material making extensive substructures or free standing installations completely obsolete. The cost-savings are obvious, no substructures or fastening mechanisms because the acryl or composite panels are printed directly. Here DSS integrates its production technology directly in the work-flow of its partner.

The printed inorganic thin-film solar cells are manufactured using a process that is completely different from conventional photovoltaic thin-film technology. The production is based upon a printing technology that has been employed for decades in the graphic industry. DSS has found a way to make optimal use of this knowledge and has developed a modified printing process which, when combined with the DSS solar paste, easily produces printed solar cells.
